I went to get some breakfast (what else is open at 5 am) and been literally unable to order via the intercom because of the engine. Gotta love those oldschool diesels. :D

My ‘66 GMC with a 350, cam, long tube headers, and straight pipes doesn’t like drive thrus either. I have to turn her off so everyone else in line can order too. Also, burrito shops are open at 5am. A nice bacon egg and cheese burrito does the body good.

Top Tip: Turn key a little way anticlockwise. Noise stops.

I did a stint at Sonic as a teenager. We would ask people to turn off their vehicles to order. It was better to make the request than get the order wrong because we couldn’t hear.

Good thing they have screens now so you can see your order updating in real time. You can correct them if they hear you order 30 burgers or something.

Not in our part of the world. Still old-school down here.

Starters last a long time!
As for food, I’m afraid Poland is not a place noted for its cuisine....

Anyone who thinks the Transit has “old school” diesel has never driven a 24 valve Cummins or a 6.0 Powerstroke.

No idea about the Cummins, but didn’t Powerstroke become a thing in the 90's? The 2.5 in that Transit is an evolution of the 70's York engine.

sorry I assumed it was a newer Transit. I’m kinda new to Oppo and don’t have the history.

I dunno, man. They’ve been selling the Transit with a diesel since 1965.

from a US perspective they only started selling the Transit here last year.

It’s an old 4-cylinder diesel, they are extremely noisy. I’ve ordered while driving a 5.9 CR multiple times, and it even has an exhaust leak. Besides, the 12V is the noisy one.

I went to a restaurant recently whee where the staff were all Polish. Nothing odd about that but the restaurant was Polish owned too and so the menu was ethnic Polish. I went for the pierogi and felt a bit queasy for some time afterwards. All fat! Nice cakes though.

There are so many ways to make pierogi, it’s amazing. You can have dozens of various fillings and a number of ways to cook them. Yours were probably deep fried and that can indeed get too filthy for reasonable consumption. :P

the common-rail 5.9 was a lot quieter than the preceding ones. Maybe the 12V was louder, but by my ear the ‘98-’02 24V was a lot more “clattery.”

no worse than most other sausage-intensive Eastern European cuisines.
(half Polish myself. Hamtramck is a frequent visit for me. real kiebasa krajana is heavenly.)

It’s not quieter when it has a hole ahead of the cat. But I find the 12V a lot more clattery.

If you live in a place with diesel Transits, you’re probably not going to come across those and vice versa.
